Because of my illness and brodams holidays in Vegas, we (especially me) were a bit slow with the last skateboard tests … now that I have a little free time I use the occasion to post my DGK test, my board for the last month that hold for 5 / 6 weeks. It was one of the DGK Steevie last series available in shops – when you go to the DGK site, it is the one you see on the home page … So despite my lateness, I am still up-to-date , I try anyway.

The deck: a DGK Dirty Ghetto Pops Strawberry Steevie Williams 8.0 super stylish to my taste and painted everywhere, above / below and with great imagination and creativity for this series. Let me explain:

They made 5 decks for 5 riders: Stevie Williams, Wade Desarmo, Lenny Rivas, Jake Curtin, and Marcus McBride. Each deck is a fruity icecream bar and weighs 28g (1oz). On all these bars it is marked "Gangsta fast freeze ice bar" – "Freeze and Eat" – "5 ghetto flavors" – "Not for individual sale labelled" and each bar ( each skateur) has a particular taste:

Stevie is the strawberry , Wade Desarmo the raspberry, Lenny Rivas lime , Jake Curtin grapes , and Marcus McBride orange .

Every taste is attached to a color that they have placed under the board and also on the board. On top of all the models of the serie we find our 5 bandits on the bottom of alloverprint DGK.
There’s no need to discuss … it is really ghetto pops series!

THE drawings we should say because the plate is painted above and below as I was saying. Look at the photos, we don’t really know wich side is which.

D’ailleurs direct après avoir pris les photos j’ai monté le grip, BUT IMPORTANT NOTICE TO everyone! NEVER stick a sheet of grip which was completely folded, in the fashion of my grip sheet below

Why? Because even tensing it, after sticking it will re-distort what will create waves on your board, YES! waves of grip. A pain in the ass because it distorts the way of riding, not enough to make it an excuse: "bitch! It’s the fault of my board if I ride like an ass!" But enough to piss you pff so something NOT TO do except when, like me, you only have a single sheet left, and you really want to go enjoy the sun in Créteil with your bro.

The form:

They have roughly the same size and shape so I’m happy because I don’t like it when it’s too different, you always have to do shuvit to return your board before making your tricks .

The concave:
Well for a 8.0 it is rather flat and I’m not going to complain , I don’t like giant cups such as Antiz Dykmans, I am not very comfortable. So 8 , not very flat with the similar noses and tails is really nice.

The source:
DGK is real US dope with Canadian maple wood.

The price:
69 € at HawaiiSurf. I have not seen it on other eshops and as I always check in Hawaii at first and that I have found it there, I didn’t really look anywhere else I admit.

The promo:
What promo? There’s no promo. (Ah shit, it’s the default field when I do a test and I didn’t erased it)

The test:

I must thank my Kev ‘ for this this deck so I could discover the ghetto fully. We had in fact never ridden DGK (me, dam’s, or the regular authors of lesiteduskate)

Then I have to say that the reaction of the board (unbreakable but still broken) reminds me of a recent Almost uber-carbon technology or my Blind with carbon composite two years ago or the Darkstar Light Armor. .. Although there is only wood and glue within the DGK, no additional component whatsoever.

The perfect quarter round , high quality ; and on the macro ABOVE, nothing to say about the quality.

1st day of ride in Créteil: sticking job before / after

After 3 weeks, it broke ONLY on one side , on 3 / 4 layers, and on the other side (not the same day) …

It has effectively cracked the entire deck and the next day a huge crack appeared while riding (like a canyon) .

I still managed to keep riding it since it hasn’t entirely broke . I wouldn’t send to trash still functional gear , eventhough it had no pop and it feltweird when making ollie. .Like a flexible board ,elastic .

Here the effects of my Tensor trucks. 4 holes for the screws, OK, but next we see the peaks of the Tensor trucks which holed the board for about 4 / 5 millimeters deep. It has ABSOLUTELY no impact on the solidity of the board around the trucks.
=> The proof is that this DGK broke in the middle, on both sides, but not the same day, just a few days after … but nothing around the tail and nose.

Here you can see how the painting reacts to slides + tip of the tail … I slid a lot when slowing down even in the city, so it gets used particularly fast to becoming sharp knives

As usual the wheels rubbed on the board – when will we have the test of Black Hole technology at Black Label? - — And I’m chilling out with bro with a moustache in the car while going to the spot (we probably woke up shortly before the picture, regarding our shitty faces)

Review: I never broke a board twice and still keep riding it so it is obvious that DGK is rather tough and strong. The board is still in one piece on my wall of boards (see below) but cannot be ridden anymore.
De plus l’originalité de la série m’a bien fait kiffer et je suis limite content de pas l’avoir cassée en 2 comme ça je pourrai la garder et faire le beau avec quand DGK sera fini – quand j’aurai 50 ans… Moreover, the originality of the serie really pleased me and I am almost happy of not having broken it in 2 so I can keep it and and enjoy myself with it when DGK is finished – when I’ll be 50 years old …
