Metropolitan skateboard Super heroes guest by SIMON TRUE : A big quality deck for 65 euros
Much has been heard about the french based brand Metropolitan on le site du skate with tests of David Couliau Season 2, Artist board, team season Board 2, and we aren’t gonna stop there because today we are talking about the new serie released late august in most french shops
.

The product:
Board METROPOLITAN skateboard Back to School serie model guest super heroes
The design:
Graphics that includes drawings of Spiderman, Batman and Superman but with a kid style. It’s funny , and the more dominant colors are pink and red.
The artist who designed this guest board is noone else than SIMON TRUE.
I’ve put the original super heroes wich Simon True was inspired by, below…
Spiderman
Batman
Superman
The painting quality is a little bit missed because if you look closely, the design of the deck is not straight and we notice pixels on the painting. You can see a white line down the board’s drawing. See macro photo below.
Size and shape:
An 8 inches wide deck. Most riders adapted themselves to this width.
The nose is quite long and has a large flat between the base of the truck and the part of the nose / tail that goes back.It allows more control in nose / tail slide.
As for the tail, I find it much less rocket shaped than on the other models I’ve tested. The deck’s length is relatively short compared to the width. In general, 8 inches wide are longer. Therefore I feel it runs better in the movements when the deck is turning in 360 like in 3.6 flip, for example.
As always with Metropolitan decks, the quality 1 / 4 Round.
The concave:
A medium concave for an 8 inches deck. This concave strongly looks like the last Metro I tested.
A small flat in the middle of the deck with edges raised a bit.
The more important the concave , the flatter the foot, and the less comfort on the deck but then it flips very well. It means that this board is comfortable.
The source:
All boards are made of quality Canadian maple and come out of the same manufacture as all Deluxe products (Real, Krooked) and god knows that Real tests of the site are conclusive.
Other models in the serie :
Metroplitan’s Back to School serie by Mark Newton.
The Price :
65 euros : A reasonable price for such a quality board, especially knowing that they were sold 70 euros each before.
Available since late August 2008 in shops. But which shop?

The test:
The thick paint slides very well and doesn’t crack. Apart from the painting, the finishing is amazing for a French board.
1 month of skateboard (10 / 12 sessions) and not a single crack, no bad shit, it was still making the sound of a brand new deck!
I said ‘Was "because at Aix’s skatepark , it entirely fell 3 times in a water puddle and even after it dried, I could still feel the water but the board still reacts very well and isn’t cracked.
That’s actually my knee that cracked before the board. That’s just to tell you how resistant it is.
I had no other picture since I hurt my knee so I put the same photo than in my last DC test
